I am pleased to announce that McCone County Library has received another $3000 grant from Libraries Transforming Communities in conjunction with the American Library Association (ALA) and the Association of Rural and Small Libraries (ARSL). This grant will be used to purchase music resources for our community. The resources will include music CD’s and DVD’s as well as children’s books, techniques books, music history books, and books about general music information. In the previous round of this grant, we were awarded $3000 to increase our books about Civics and American History. This collection is currently in circulation. I invite you to visit the library to view the titles on our shelves and sign up for a library card if you do not already have one. As a part of our grant, Sonja Meissner will be joining me at the library on a future date to host a community discussion on how we can support our local music program. This grant will be used to purchase music resources for our community. The resources will include music CDs and DVDs as well as children’s books, techniques books, music history books, and books about general music information. I am curating the collection now and it should be ready to check out by the new year. As we did with our last collection. We will display the acquisitions for two weeks prior to loaning, so that the community may see the collection in its entirety before it is dispersed into the greater library. I look forward to sharing these resources with the community. Many who know me, know that my degree is in Music Performance and Theatre. This subject is near and dear to my heart. I am beyond ecstatic to be able to share examples of music from different countries, Opera, Broadway, Jazz, Blues, Music History, Theory, Music Appreciation, DVDs of live performances and documentaries and CD recordings of many types of music. I look forward to seeing you in the library!
